How to add a multi-route raid or a link-up of several summits?
How to create a route describing a raid?
In order to create a new raid (after having verified it does not exist already), you have to:
- Create a raid-summit (if it does not exist):
- summit type: choose "raid"
- elevation: elevation of the highest summit + 1m
- georeferencing: position the raid-summit on the highest summit of the raid (or the center of it, or the start point, or...).
Example: Haute route des Pyrénées
In the particular case where the only goal of the raid is to reach the highest summit of the raid, do use the highest point and do not create a raid-summit.
- Create the summits crossed by the raid, if they do not exist yet: at least one summit per step.
- Create a raid-route associated to the raid-summit:
- duration: 3 days or more
- height diff: cumulated height diff
- description: see below
- Associate all relevant summits to the raid-route (but not the raid-summit)
Description of the raid-route:
- Either describe the whole raid. Useful only if it is not possible to do the different steps independently from this raid, and if there isn't already a raid with some of these steps.
Example of a raid without independent steps - Or describe the raid in the raid-summit and describe each of the steps more precisely in one route per step. In order to do this:
- Create a route for each step of the raid (except maybe the first day if it consists in reaching a hut and the last day if it consists in directly going down a hut), associated to the summits / passes crossed by the step. Do not associate the raid-summit.
- Associate each route to the raid-route.
Example with 6 steps
If a raid describing a section of your raid already exist, it may be advisable to modify the existing raid to add new steps instead of creating a new raid.
How to create an outing for a raid?
- Either a single outing for the whole raid:
- add an outing to the raid-route
- maybe modify the title of the outing to match a partial raid
- describe the conditions encountered and your comments like in a one-day outing
- associate the outing the the relevant steps of the raid
See e.g. this outing
- Or one outing per step: for each step, create an outing and associate it to the raid-route.
See e.g. this outing (first step of a 6-day raid)
You can also mix both methods: one outing for one step, another one for 3 steps...
