Introduction

As winter comes in, time has come to think about the coming c2cg2gs. Contributors from the Pyrenees have set the stage with their January gathering and time has come to inform everyone concerning the 2010 GA of Camptocamp-Association and the associated c2cg2g, which will take place in the Hotel de la Tza in Arolla (Switzerland).

Schedule

The schedule is similar to that of last year: an official meeting on Saturday afternoon, followed by a shared supper. Participants who wish to can take part in joint activities on Saturday and Sunday, or even before or after the weekend.

Date

The general assembly will start on Saturday 20th of March 2010 at 16h30 in the Hotel de la Tza in Arolla (CH). The “official” c2cg2g in Arolla will start on Friday 19th and end on Sunday 21st of March 2010.

Organisation

The c2cg2g is organized by Céline, Marie and Vincent. They will organise the Friday and Saturday suppers as well as accommodation for two nights. They can help with organising car-pooling, activities and longer stays. Neither them, nor Camptocamp-Association will organise outings. Outings are under the full responsibility of their participants.

Accommodation

The assembly, suppers and nights will take place in the hotel de la Tza with suppers and nights already booked by Camptocamp Association. The Hotel de la Tza is a simple hotel, more like a self-catering cottage (gîte in French). Places are booked in dormitories of no more than 5 persons. Beds come with warm blankets and there are bathrooms and toilets on the floor. For noisy sleepers, and those who can’t stand them, double rooms are available.

Costs

The price is set at CHF80 (Swiss francs). Depending on the exchange rate of the day, that corresponds to between €48 and €57. This includes the Saturday night supper (drinks included, with coffee or tea), one night and the Sunday morning breakfast. Those arriving on Friday evening will have to pay an extra CHF65 (approx. €42) for their supper, night and breakfast. Double bedrooms cost an extra CHF10 (approx. €7). The organisers request that you make an advance payment of €15 or CHF25, per night.

To register, send an private message to Marie (or Céline). You will receive in return information for the advance payment. Reception of the advance payment will confirm your booking.

Payment

Depending on your country of residence, you will receive specific recommendations for the advance payment. Once in Arolla, payments will have to be made in cash in Swiss francs or Euros (at the day’s rate). There is an ATM machine in Evolène (2 villages below Arolla).

Access

Access to Arolla is from Sion (Valais) through the Val d'Hérens. By car, just follow the road. You can also use public transport: Reach Sion by train and then hop onto the “car postal” bus to Arolla. The trip from Sion takes between 30min and 1h.

Activities in Arolla

Winter in Arolla offers numerous possibilities for alpine and cross-country skiing, ski-touring, snowshoeing and ice-climbing. You can find all the necessary information on the camptocamp guidebook. For walking, it might be best to make a stopover below the snowline, for example in the vineyards of the Valais. For rock climbers, there are plenty of crags on the N bank of the Rhône or on the way up to Arolla.
